Weekend Warfront Medals – Live Event Slot Item Rewards

August 2, 2010

This past weekend’s Warfront introduced a much-needed change to the reward system associated with these mini-Events:  Class-Specific Live Event Slot Items.

But they didn’t just introduce an item that everyone could get and be done with it, they created a random system for generating an Uncommon, Rare or Very Rare item for your efforts.

After spending Sunday finishing up the Weekend Warfront and talking to others that had done it and asking them to link their rewards to me, I’ve got what appears to be the breakdown for the possible items you can receive.

Let’s take a look!

Weekend Warfront Medals

General Information

These new rewards are received by achieving Elite Reward influence in the Weekend Warfronts.  Basically, you have to complete all the tasks set before you.

The reward you actually receive from the Herald is a Chest labeled with the type of Medal it contains.  This chest has a 2-day real-time decay timer on it.  This means you can keep it in your inventory for a while before you open it and thus start the timer on your actual item.

The Medals themselves have a 5-day real-time decay timer on them.  Basically, you’ll earn one for your efforts one weekend, then it will be decayed around the time you need to earn a new one.  This stays true to the initial idea behind these Live Event Slot Items in general, being that they were supposed to decay around the time a new Live Event was going to begin where you’d be able to earn a new one.  This hasn’t held true in regards to the full-size Live Events and their rewards, but this new system added to the Weekend Warfronts will mean that unless they don’t have one on a random weekend, you have the possibility to permanently keep this slot filled with an item now.

Ranks and Rarities

So as to make these items available for all Tiers, there are Medals for Ranks 11, 21, 31 and 40.

In addition to that, upon opening your Chest, you’ll receive either an Uncommon (Green), Rare (Blue), or Very Rare (Purple) Medal.

Note: Despite rumors to the contrary, I don’t believe there are Mythic-Rarity Medals available.  No one has yet been able to link one to me.  If you have one, let me know the Server you’re on and I’ll create a character there to come verify it.  Thanks!

As you can see, while not “Must Have” items, they do give very pertinent stat bonuses for whatever playstyle you choose to follow.  In the case of the Royal Medals, the +1 to Crit in your chosen path is a very nice bonus indeed.

I look forward to seeing how this affects participation in the Weekend Warfronts.  It may just give them that little extra “oomph” they needed to get more people to not only participate, but attempt to complete the Tasks and thus work together a bit more than in the past.  Only time will tell.

This is the first WW in a long time that I’ve finished. Event Slot items are a GREAT motivator.

Aye first I’ve done inna while as well. It’s a nice little boost, I ended up with the green which while there not great it’s a free stat add so i’m not complaining!
Also it helped none of the event requirement were that difficult to pull off. Even the bomb running only required 2 to complete it shouldn’t be impossible for anyone 🙂
Hope they keep it up across future events and not go back to ridiculous task requirements.
