Return to Ekrund – A Stronghold Saga – Part 1 (Live Event Guide)

January 23, 2013

~stumbles in…looks around~

This place looks vaguely familiar…

~pulls up a chair~

Yeah…I think I used to write Warhammer guides here about Live Events and stuff…

~fires up WAR~

Well…would you look at that?  WAR has an all-new Live Event.  And it appears to have multiple parts too…

We haven’t had a multi-parter since…

~digs through files~

…huh.

Well, the closest thing I can find is back in March through June of 2009 when Mythic rolled out the Call to Arms Live Event series.  The first part was Bitter Rivals and helped introduce the Slayer and Choppa to the game.  The second part was Beyond the Sands which was the teaser leading up to the release of Land of the Dead.  The third part was Rise of the Tomb Kings which granted the winning Realm a head-start in Land of the Dead.

That’s some pretty big shoes to fill.  While I don’t think we’re getting new Classes, the text for the Event does hint at “Legendary Weapons”.  Maybe we’ll get more hints as the Event(s) progress.

Now if I can only remember what all these buttons do…

(Disclaimer:  As this is a completely new Event, the guide will be a work-in-progress as I work through the stages.  Feel free to add tips/info via comments!)

I’m Not Dead, I Just Moved…

June 11, 2012

…over to 6v6v6.com.

For those of you that didn’t already know, I’ve been focusing my time on my new adventure over at 6v6v6.com – The Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes Fan Site.

I opened up the site in October of last year while the game was still in Closed Beta with just a handful of members.  The game is now in Open Beta and we just passed 200 members, so we’re cruising right along!

I also just posted our first major interview with the BioWare Devs – The Invasion Interview.  Those of you that remember the WAR interviews I used to do will find this fairly familiar.  I’m giving you fair warning now though, if you thought some of my previous interviews were long, this one is longer.  We spent the entire day at the studio and recorded almost all the conversations.  So all of that got transcribed into one massive interview.

Good times.

So going forward, that’s where you’ll find me the majority of the time.  If I play a game that inspires me to write about it, or I want to do a review of a game other than WoH, I’ll come here and post it.  However, outside that, the blog will remain here as an archive and a guide source as some of the guides here are still completely valid and people still visit for them every day.  Just don’t expect anything to get updated any time soon, if at all.

So, come on over to 6v6v6.com and say hi!  Until next time…

Have fun!

The Morning After – Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

September 6, 2011

Last month, I received an e-mail from a marketing rep for THQ asking me if I might want to review their upcoming game.  My response:

Of course!

After years of trying out games that got their inspiration from Games Workshop‘s spectacular envisioning of an Übermensch, I was more than ready to see what a studio could make out of the real thing.

So, when my review copy showed up just in time for the holiday weekend, I did what any devoted blogger would do…

I fired up the PS3, sat my ass down in front of the 50″ plasma and played it all weekend long.

It’s for you, the reader, that I make these kind of sacrifices…   😉

Enjoy!

~Gaar

Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes

August 16, 2011

The big news for Warhammer fans out of GamesCom today is the upcoming Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes!

For those that can put 2 and 2 together, this is the new shiny that BioWare-Mythic gave a handful of us bloggers a sneak-peak at last month.

I would expect we’ll hear more information soon, but let’s take a look at what we know about it so far!
