Sigmartide – Live Event Guide

July 2, 2011

…can it be?

It is!  It is!

A new Live Event for WAR!!!

Pardon me if I’m even more excited than usual for a Live Event, but this is the first entirely new one we’ve seen for WAR since 2009.  So, I for one am extremely excited about it and what its release may mean for the future of WAR.

But let’s stick to the event…for now.  :p

For those of you that have never seen me make a guide for an entirely new event before, this one won’t have everything you want/need to know in it right away so make sure to check back often and even leave info/screenshots for me in the comments if you find something I don’t have listed yet.

Enjoy!

~Gaar

Let the revels begin!  Every citizen, soldier, and servant in the Empire takes pause at this festive time of year to celebrate the day Sigmar became a god.  It is time to purge the empire of the taint of Chaos.  Meanwhile, the forces of Destruction seek to undermine the Empire by ruining the festival.

Sigmartide (Live Event – June/July 2011)

Earn event influence by cleansing the Skulls of the Fallen of your enemies, consecrating Battlefield Altars of Sigmar, rooting out corrupting influences within the College of Corruption scenario, and renewing Sigmar’s bond with the Dwarfs through the Gates of Ekrund scenario.  However you celebrate Sigmartide, make it a holiday you — and your enemies — never forget!

Basic Reward:  Mark of the Hammer – 10% xp/renown/damage/incoming healing buff that lasts for 3 in-game days

Advanced Reward:  Ceremonial Hammer – Trophy (Shoulders)

Elite Reward:  Token of Sigmar – Event Slot item with career-specific stats

The Live Event Herald for Order is named Kadius Kridt and is located at (26776, 30868) by the Flight Master in Altdorf.  The Live Event Herald for Destruction is named Kralf Hexenkrieger and is located at (29455, 32368) by the Flight Master in the Inevitable City.

General Information

The Sigmartide Live Event started on June 28th and will last for approximately two weeks.  As usual, there are Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 versions of what needs to be done and where things are located.  Use the red circles on your map as guides and if that fails, ask in region or check this guide for location coordinates.

Reward:  XP, Money

That’s all there is to it.  I was hoping for a more involved quest-line like in the past, but oh well.

Destruction Quests

Corrupting Influences

The twin-tailed comet hangs over the Empire… now is the perfect time for us to strike!  Those fools will be too distracted with their Sigmartide celebrations, and stuffing their drooling mouths full of spiced meats, to notice our maneuverings.  Today we learn the secrets of the Seven Keys; today we bring corruption to the doorstep of the Empire; today we bend the Red Winds to OUR will!

  • Complete the College of Corruption scenario

Your performance was adequate.  The Empire now quakes with fear, knowing we can strike them so deeply.

Reward:  XP, Money

That’s all there is to it.  I was hoping for a more involved quest-line like in the past, but oh well.

College of Corruption Scenario

So, this scenario makes its first appearance in this event and brings some interesting combat options to the table.

First off, it’s a multi-level scenario which allows for lots of different placements/strategies just on its own.  Add in the ability to leave your spawn and show up in three different places and you have the makings of a good time for ranged classes.

Second, you can turn yourself into an Aspect of Fire.  This works like Skaven-play in Tier 4 ORvR, but all Tiers get to do this in the scenario.  Basically, you turn into the Aspect and your toolbar switches from normal to Aspect abilities… which are pretty interesting in my opinion.  Let’s take a look at them.

Blast of Aqshy

The first ability on your toolbar is the Blast of Aqshy.  It’s insta-cast, has a 90 foot range and only costs 10 AP so it’s your primary attack.  Basically, you get to hurl fireballs.  Go crazy.

Wrath of Aqshy

The second ability on your toolbar will be the Wrath of Aqshy.  This ability casts on yourself, has a 1 second cast time and a 15 second cooldown and uses up 50 AP.  This spell summons four Aqshy Sprites that do Area of Effect damage that acts as a life-tap for nearby allies.  Make sure to cast this right in the middle of a big skirmish for maximum effect.

Unquenchable Fires of Aqshy

The third ability on your toolbar will be the Unquenchable Fires of Aqshy.  This is a 2 second cast with a 30 second cooldown and a 42 foot range that consumes 200 AP.  This casts a huge fireball at your target and does Area of Effect damage to anyone around them and anyone that passes through the area it went off in for a short duration.  Good times.  Again, make sure to focus this into a giant furball of enemy players for maximum effect.

Aqshy’s Conversion

The fourth ability on your toolbar is Aqshy’s Conversion.  This ability has a 3 second cast time, 30 second cooldown, costs 200 AP and centers on yourself.  This spell covers six of your close allies in a damage absorb shield for 10 seconds.  But wait, there’s more!  It also does damage back to any attackers and drops a heal-over-time onto the allies it is placed on.  Can you say “Hat Trick”?

Grace of Aqshy

The final ability on your toolbar is the Grace of Aqshy.  It’s a 3 second cast with a 45 second cooldown that consumes 150 AP and is centered on you.  Just when you thought the aforementioned AOE-Hat Trick was nice, they give you an AOE combat rez that brings up to 6 allies back from the dead where they were laying.  Oh, did I mention they’re at full health?  I didn’t?  My bad.  I really should have mentioned that.

Now, you don’t stay in the Aspect indefinitely.  It will wear off after xx and will also go away if you’re killed.  So make sure to use it to your realm’s advantage when you become an Aspect as it can really turn the tide of battle in this scenario.

Rare World Drops

I don’t know about you, but I love me some phat lootz.  However, all I know of so far that drops are the skulls.  /sigh  Let me know if you find anything and I’ll add it!

Skull of the Fallen

More coming soon?

Hidden Stuff?

Occasionally Bioware-Mythic likes to get tricky with what they put in Live Events.  Keep your eyes peeled for hidden Titles, quests, etc, and let me know what you find so I can add it in here!

Seven Keys of Secrets

So far, this is the only hidden thing I’ve found so far.  It unlocks in your Task List once you’ve completed the College of Corruption scenario while holding the Aqshy Core the whole time.  I haven’t completed it yet, so no clue if it gives anything interesting.

Update:  Completing this hidden Task grants you a new Title!

Order:  Custodian of Secrets
Destruction:  Unraveler of Secrets

More coming soon?

Have fun!
