White Lion Armored Pet Upgrade in 1.2.1

April 1, 2009

The next patch from Mythic is bringing a lot of much requested updates it seems, from upgradeable keeps to zone control rewards to a new Live Event.  Something that didn’t make the preview announcement, however, was that White Lions are finally getting a pet that doesn’t die in just a few hits.  I only mention this because two of my guildies have White Lions and they were very excited about the news.  They felt this definitely made having the pet out very viable for RvR and even dungeons now.

From the short period of testing available to us, we found good and bad things about the new pet.

Good:

1.  Customizable/dyeable armor.  You can upgrade your new pet’s armor with item drops to make it fit your playstyle.  A very nice addition for those stat-freaks out there like me.

2.  It definitely can take a beating when properly equipped.  Destro threw all they had at it and it took focus fire to bring it down.

Bad:

1.  It still responds sluggishly to commands, especially the initial calling of the pet.  Once out, there seems to be a small delay from when you tell it to do something and when it actually does it.  Mythic still has some work to do in this area.

2.  When fully armored up, it’s not as ferocious looking as it could have been.  Something is just a bit off…

I’ll leave it to you to make the call though.  Personally, I feel this is a great addition to the game and I hope to see more White Lions using their pets in the future.

Check out the video Redztk made of our tests and let us know how you feel about the changes.

I just want to say, we had planned on using White Lion’s “When the Children Cry” as the background music for this but YouTube had other plans. I still think it would have been more appropriate… Hope you enjoyed it!
