Night of Murder 2011 – Live Event Guide

February 8, 2011

Ahhh February…

A short month, but one filled with passion…

…desire…

…murder…

~giggle~

It’s baaaaaaaaack…

~Gaar

As darkness falls on the Night of Murder, the worshippers of death bathe the land in blood, all intent on proving their devotion to the Elf god Kaela Mensha Khaine.  It is a time that the forces of Destruction are all too willing to exploit.  Assassins infiltrate the cities, while on the battlefield the differences between Good and Evil fade beneath the crimson haze of bloodlust.  None are immune to the will of Khaine during this dark holiday.

Night of Murder (Live Event – February 2011)

Earn influence by slaying Daemons and enemies.  Claim battlefield objectives for your Realm, and enter the foreboding High Pass Cemetary, if you dare!

Note:  The Scenario this year is Khaine’s Embrace (Booyah!), not High Pass Cemetary.

  • Basic Reward: Butcher’s Blessing – 10% xp/renown/damage/incoming healing buff that lasts for 3 in-game days

  • Advanced Reward: Well-Mounted Skull – Places a pike next to the body of a fallen foe, topped with their head.

  • Elite Reward: Khaine’s Caress – Event-slot item with career-specific stats

The Live Event Herald for Order is named Kadius Kridt and is located at (26776, 30868) by the Flight Master in Altdorf.  The Live Event Herald for Destruction is named Kralf Hexenkrieger and is located at (29455, 32368) by the Flight Master in the Inevitable City.

General Information

The Night of Murder Live Event started on February 8th and will last until the morning of February 22nd.  As usual, there are Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 versions of what needs to be done and where things are located.  Use the red circles on your map as guides and if that fails, ask in region or check this guide for location coordinates.

Order Live Event Tasks

  • Complete the Marked Quest five Times
  • Defeat ten Marked monsters
  • Kill 25 enemy players
  • Assassinate one member of each enemy career
  • Participate in any Elf Scenario
  • Gain a buff from a Shrine of Khaine
  • Kill 15 players of each enemy race

  • Complete all Night of Murder tasks

Complete the Marked Quest five times : Speak to the Wild-Eyed Guiltseeker to find out which enemies and monsters are ‘marked’.

Defeat ten Marked monsters : Several monsters have bounties on their head.  Find them and kill them!

Kill 25 enemy players : Amid all the bounties, the war still goes on!  Send your enemies to their graves — marked or not!

Assassinate one member of each enemy career : There’s no telling which of your enemies put a price on your head.  Best kill them all, to be sure.

Participate in any Elf Scenario : The Night of Murder is a sacred ritual of the Elven god Khaine.  Feel his presence in the most ancient Elven locales.

Gain a buff from a Shrine of Khaine : Murderers feed off the shrines of their god.  Destroy it!

Here’s what it looks like.  They can be found in any RvR lake it seems.  Once there, just target it and attack.  Once you’ve killed it, you get this interesting buff:

Up to you if it’s worth it or not.  In some cases, I think it might be a good time.  hehe

Kill 15 players of each enemy race : Teach your enemies the folly of putting a price on your head!

Assassinate five enemy guild officers : Without their leaders, your enemies will falter and break.

Assassinate one guild leader : The surest way to kill any snake is to cut off its head…

Throw the skull of an Enemy Player five times : There is nothing quite so demoralizing to your enemy as tossing around the skulls of their fallen allies.

Either you or a friend needs to obtain a Lobbin’ Noggin to complete this task.  They’re looted off dead players in RvR.  Drag it to your toolbar, target a trusted friend and click.  Enjoy!

Stake ten enemies’ skulls : For the final insult, mount your slain enemies’ heads on stakes for all to see!

Once you have earned the Well-Mounted Skull, put it on your toolbar and hit it every time you kill an enemy.  A stake with a skull will spear through their body.   You can do this once every 10 seconds, even to the same body.  Good times!

Complete all Night of Murder tasks : Pretty self-explanatory

Order Quests

The Wild-Eyed Guiltseeker can be found at (27236, 31076) in Altdorf near the Flight Master.  He hands out the ‘Marked for Death’ quest.

Marked for Death

This is a timed quest.  Once you pick it up, you have two hours to complete it or you fail.  Good times.

What you’re looking for here is targets that have been marked with the skull icon.  These can include things like PQ bosses, Keep Lords and enemy players.  Here’s what the icon looks like:

Once you’ve completed the quest, return to the Wild-Eyed Guiltseeker and turn it in for your reward.

Reward: XP and the Vendetta Vial

They added this item to the mix last year and it was fabulous.  Being able to mark specific targets on the battlefield for focus, even without the use of addons/vent/etc is a great thing.  ~steeplefingers~ Now if I could only get it to work on people from my side…

Tip:  There are marked mobs scattered throughout your city.  Once you attack them, their level adjusts to your Tier and you can kill them for credit for the quest.

Here’s what they look like.  Once you attack them, they turn into Vicious Goredancers.

Keep your eyes open for the Suspicous Rogues though, as they turn into Bloodgorge the Cruel, a Hero version of the mobs.

She should give you an increased chance of getting the World Drop loot though, if it’s worth it to you.

Destruction Quests

The Twisted Slaughterhag can be found at (29719, 33558) in the Inevitable City near the Flight Master.  She hands out the ‘Marked for Death’ quest.

Keep your eyes open for the Suspicous Mercenaries though, as they turn into Griswold the Purifier, a Hero version of the mobs.

He should give you an increased chance of getting the World Drop loot though, if it’s worth it to you.

Rare World Drops

And now for the part we all look forward to… phat lootz!

Once again, a lot of these are making a return.  First up, two old favorites:  Thoroughly Lobbed Nog and Lobbin’ Noggin

Thoroughly Lobbed Nog

This item is looted off dead players in RvR.  It is literally your dead opponent’s head.  When you right click it to use it, it mails their head back to them.  ~giggle~  Once mailed, you’re left with:

I still have no clue if this is just fluff or if it does anything.  I’ve still got some left over from the last few years.

Your Thoroughly Lobbed Nog

This is what the person gets when you use the previous loot.  It arrives in the mail with a nice letter from your killer.

I’m still waiting on the “Reply” option to be added…  😉

Lobbin’ Noggin

This item is also looted off dead players in RvR.  It is a fun little item that can be tossed back and forth amongst people.  You do this by right-clicking the item in your inventory or putting it on your toolbar and clicking it.  Keep in mind, you have to target a friendly person first.  Be careful who you toss it to though!  No one says they have to toss it back…  Do this five times to complete your Live Event task.

Hidden Titles

As I stated last year, some of us do these things just for the Titles.  :p  Here’s a list of what people unlocked last year.  Let me know if any new ones are found or if some of these are unable to be obtained this year and I’ll adjust the list.  Good luck!

Khaine’s Forgotten – This seems to be obtained for dying when Marked for Death X number of times.  There’s no way to know you’ve been Marked, so you just need to go out and fight a lot to get this one.  Mine literally triggered upon death last year, so that is definitely the link.

Devotee of Khaine – Kill X number of players that are Marked for Death it seems.  I never got this one last year, so I’ll be working on it again this year.  If anyone gets it, definitely let me know any info you have about it so we can find a repeatable way to get it for sure.

Destroyer of Lords – Kill 5 Keep Lords that are Marked for Death.  With the new changes to RvR, this one was most likely removed for good.

Grim Reaper – Stake your dead foes 25 times or so.  I didn’t count last year as I staked any and every body I came across just for the fun of it… but it seemed to be right.  Good times!

Bloodborn – Unknown.  Possibly for killing X number of Marked players while in a Scenario.  Let me know if you figure this one out this year.

The Murderous – Unknown.  Got it two years ago from using the Basic Influence reward.

Bloody Postmaster – Mail back someone’s Thoroughly Lobbed Nog.

Master Assassin – Complete all Live Event tasks.  At least, that’s what it was a couple of years ago and I got it last year from doing so.  Those of you that haven’t completed the event, sound off and let me know if you received it upon completion or not.  Thanks!

I’ll update any new info as soon as I’m able to.  Don’t forget to keep your eyes open for new Titles or loot they may have snuck in on us!

Good luck finding everything and, as always…

Have fun!

The Grim Reaper title is really bugging me this year. Can’t get it on my alts, staked well over 25 by now.

    Very helpful post!

Also, I confirmed that the Master Assassin title is unlocked by completing all of the events.
