The other way to get the “of Carnage” set is by completing the Hunter’s Vale dungeon in Tier 1.  It is located near Chapter 3 for both Empire and Chaos in Nordland and can be done even with imperfect groups.  Repairable armor pieces drop from the Bosses in the Dungeon.

The Primary Set is what you earn and you trade those pieces in for the Secondary Set via the Specialized Armorsmith if you want it instead.  You can also purchase the Primary Set from the Royal Quartermaster via Officer Medallions and Royal Crests.

E.  Land of the Dead

In June of 2009, Mythic released the Land of the Dead live expansion.  This expansion included all kinds of new weapons and armor, as well as new accessory sets.  However, it only included one actual “armor set” with set bonuses.  That set was the Tyrant set and it is obtainable only via venturing into the Tomb of the Vulture Lord, which is a dungeon rated one step above Lost Vale.   The Tyrant set itself has stats and bonuses just below the Warlord set.

The pieces drop as repairable items from the Bosses in the Tomb of the Vulture Lord.  In an interesting adjustment to armor set drops, they alternate as either dropping a repairable item for a Tank/Healer or for a DPS class, dropping based on race, or dropping as repairable by all.  These repairables only have a 50% chance of dropping.  Each Boss is also a PQ and the bags contain the tokens needed to purchase the vendor-sold pieces of this set.  Overall, this system of loot was a huge step forward in terms of making dungeon items more accessible in the game as it no longer punished bringing two of the same class.

F.  Thanquol’s Incursion

In November of 2010, BioWare-Mythic introduced Thanquol’s Incursion: a Skaven-themed 24v24 RvR Dungeon. At the same time, they raised the Renown Rank cap from 80 to 100, allowing for the introduction of four new Armor Sets. The sets are named Doomflayer and Warpforged and there are two types under each name, similar to how they adjusted the Sovereign set earlier that year and created two distinct versions of it.

Note: Both the increased Renown Rank cap and the new Armor Sets are only available if you purchase the Progression RvR Pack.

Along with these new armor sets came new forms of currency to buy them with that you earn while in the Dungeon: Captain’s Medallions, Doomflayer Crests and Warpforged Crests.  Additionally, the Doomflayer set can be earned in Stage 2 of the City Siege and the Warpforged set in Stage 3 (as can their related Crests).  The alternate set can be obtained by trading in the regular pieces at the Specialized Armorsmith.

The only piece not earned in those ways is the Warpforged Chest.  It is unique in that it is earned via completing the new epic quest chain that unlocks once you reach Renown Rank 95.  For Order, it is obtained by talking to Garfield Tannenbaum in the Altdorf Palace.  For Destruction, it is obtained by talking to Pyresta Ferros in the Inevitable City Palace.

Very good job with this. Look forward to seeing all the classes. I like that you can visually see the progression of the sets. Good work!

Wow, nice idea and this article is greatly appreciated. If only bloggers who played other classes could throw up an equivalent!

Keep it up (also liking the royal blue background to the site, it has been a while since I have looked here so just noticing it!)

Whoops, just re-read your intro and saw that you intend to mirror this work for the other 23 classes. But I guess the point still remains that other bloggers or just the general playerbase as a whole could certainly help you to achieve this end.

Well, the community is working on things like the Arsenal of WAR and the WARdrobe which are great tools. A guide like this is hard to do as a community-created piece, but there will be one done more in that way soon hopefully.

Great job. Here are my comments and questions.

    1. I would appreciate seeing stat totals for wearing the full armor set. I used to get this easily on WarDB, but now it is gone.

    2. Are the pics in original colors of the set or did you dye them?

    3. Is it still possible to get the Sentinel set as Order by doing the IC dungeons? I knew you could enter before 1.3 but was not aware you could still do this in the scenario style city.

    Thanks, Zwingli of Iron Rock

    • November 22, 2010 12:39 pm

      1. I debated doing stat totals for the full set but left it out as it is rare that people actually wear a full set. That information can still be obtained using the armor builder at the WARdrobe I believe. If I get feedback asking for it, I may add it as well but it would take quite a bit of extra work.

      2. Those are all the original colors so people can see how the armor comes when it is looted.

      3. I believe they turned off the ability to enter dungeons during City Sieges, but I’d have to double-check.

  5. November 22, 2010 11:45 am

    You’re a monster 🙂

  6. November 22, 2010 5:50 pm

Bigtime gratz on this, Gaar! Incredible! So I assume you are the “Master of All”?

    • November 22, 2010 9:37 pm

Nope. Got the images off of Warpstone.

    • November 23, 2010 12:23 am

Two years and you don’t have them all? The images for the Doomflayer and Warpforged are kind of blurry. The others look good!

    • November 23, 2010 1:25 am

LV and BS suck for the Body piece. :/ Pretty sure the blurriness was the fault of the armor and not the pic I took, but I’ll check when I get a chance.
