First Look: Renown Rank 81+ Weapons

Along with being able to finally get a look at the new Armor Sets on the PTS came a chance to see what was in store for the Scenario Weapon system.

As we all know, it currently caps at Renown Rank 75 weapons.  With the new system, we’ll see three additional levels of weapons available to earn at RR 81, 90 and 100.

At least, that’s how it looks on the PTS right now.  As we all know, things can (and do) change before they go Live.

Anyway, here’s a sample of what will be available.

A little explanation as to how the process looks to be laid out as compared to the current system:

The introduction of new items comes with the introduction of new tokens as well: Doomflayer/Warpforged Insignias and Captain’s Emblems.  This was most likely done to prevent people storing up tokens with the current system.  However, the initial tier of weapons at RR 81 are purchased with Royal Crests, but using Captain’s Emblems as their secondary requirement which means you’ll still need to go earn those in the new system but can save up on the Royals in advance.

To be honest, these look all jumbled up right now.  I’m not sure if they’re just placeholders or what, but the DPS/Stats on some of them make no sense at all.  Soooooo…don’t yell at me!  :p

    Funny how they decided to reuse names of king drop weapons (you know the mythic ones that weren’t in loot tables actually). Or at least I regonized Skyrender (SM sword) and Magmatus. There’s buch of screenshots here taken on some event just before lotd came out. It would be kinda intresting to compare the stats those weapons had then and what they have now on PTS.

      The stats on them before weren’t very good, hence why they were never put into the game.

      The bow and spear for SH/SW are actually pretty good. Much better than the current rr75 ones imo.

    I think you should edit the Great Spear DPS as a misprint possibly. I don’t think the 81 Great Spear does less damage than the 75 one.

      It does. I checked the PTS. All 2h weapons have very low DPS.

    I wonder, does anyone know if soft caps on stats are going to change at the new higher RRs? If not, these new shields are going to be pretty powerful.

    new weapons like 90/100 rr mythical 2h’s have some insane ammount of (for example) str on them… softcapping or nearly softcapping str these days with sovereign only is dead easy. now its gonna be softcapped all the time. ppl will have either empty talisman slots (currently taken by str/mp/crit) or renown spec points that wont be needed to spec str to reach soft cap anymore.
    Currently chosen offensive Sovereign loldps build/gear tallies : 3x str, 1xmelee power, 1x melee crit and renown spec in str 5x str + whatever you want, royal 2h, lotd ring + cloak, lotd ring str+mp and one ring of your choosing and you are 1k str easy.

    New sets and new weapons you can easily slot head, boots and chest with anything else than str bcs you have higher base str value from set pieces than you had from sovereign with talismans. if u add rr 90/100 2h (which has what about 120/150 base str on it) you can imagine softcapping str was never that easy.

    they plan on introducing str scaling? stat softcap raise?
    I would like to have something like :
    If you reach 1k+X of your stat (str, int, bs, etc) you get a passive bonus that will distinguish you. So if you pass 1050 str your skills have +10% penetration…. then it would need to affect other things for balance like your maximum wounds/hp get softcapped at 9000

    Anything, that would just distinguish you from a guy that has 800 str and you stretching yourself to do what you wanna do.

      I doubt they’ll adjust the softcap at all. I think instead you’ll see more people adding to their survivability with the free slots this gives.
