Mythic vs. WAR Bloggers – This Week Only!!!

April 7, 2010

That’s right folks!  Don’t miss out!

This week only, Werit, Shadow-War, Mykiel and I will be attempting to 4-man the Mythic HQ!!!

We’ve stocked up on our potions and liniments, polished up our Pocket Items and will be brandishing our newly-acquired Weapons of WAR as we take on the Mythic Developers themselves in a (hopefully!) No-Questions-Barred deathmatch Roundtable on Patch 1.3.5!!

However, to truly be successful in this most EPIC of battles, we need your help!

As announced earlier this week on the Herald and via Twitter, Werit from Werit’s Blog, Andrew from Shadow-WAR, Mykiel from P-O-D-C-A-S-T (and P-O-D-C-A-S-T the WEBCAST) and I have been invited to the Mythic HQ to grill the Developers of WAR on their plans for 1.3.5.

While I’m fairly certain we can come up with a lot of questions to ask, we’re just four people.  To do this right, we need your help!

How can you help?  I’m glad you asked!  😉

The theme of the weekend seems to be what’s coming in 1.3.5, most likely focused primarily on the new City Sieges.

So first off, with that focus in mind, what questions come to mind that you are dieing to know the answers to?  Go ahead and leave them here as comments or go to any of the other bloggers’ sites and their posts on this topic and leave your questions there.  We want to represent you as best we can (while also getting some of our own questions answered, hehe), but can’t do that without you.

Second, on Thursday afternoon around 2pm EST, we’ll be taking questions via Twitter to ask the Developers as you ask them.  Now, we obviously won’t be able to answer back right away due to Twitter’s character-limit and the sometimes-lengthy way Developers like to answer questions.  However, I’ve been told we’ll be given time after the Twitter-interviews to compile the answers and post them on our blogs for all to read.

So, make sure to add the following bloggers’ feeds, as well as the WAR feeds, to your Twitter so you’ll be ready to go Thursday afternoon.

You can also follow the WAR Team as well:

Carrie Gouskos – WAR Producer
Andy Belford – Community Team
Josh Drescher – WAR Producer
James Nichols – Community Team

Now, we’re going to be out there both Thursday and Friday, so hopefully we’ll have a lot more info for everyone than just what we’re able to get out to you Thursday afternoon.

Also, I’ll be staying in the area through Sunday to hang out with Mykiel and some others and try to get in some Piratey trouble.  Yarrr…hehe.  So don’t be too surprised if there’s also a US Tour-like post full of pictures and commentary to follow as well.  At least, if the pictures are publishable that is…  😉

So, leave your questions and be sure to send them to all of us on Thursday so we can represent all the players of WAR!!!

Until then…

Have fun!

I will be bringing my video camera, so I will be posting footage no matter what it is, even if we ride the mechanical bull.

“Ride the mechanical bull” is WAR Blogger-speak for bag wine consumption, which is already a given on this little adventure.

I don’t Twitter, so here’s my question: In this new RvR focused end-game city siege how will the inevitable population imbalance on any given night be resolved? If the defending side doesn’t show up will that make the city that much easier to flip to stage 2, or that much harder? Will there even be a “stage 2” to the city siege? i.e., How is the king encounter going to be accessed? Will Tchar’zanek spawn IN the city like Adell does now, or still be a PvE instance with more RvR to get there?

My guild (hi Myk) has been selected to participate in testing, so I’m sure those answers are going to be coming within the next few weeks, but I want to know how many more times I need to try and farm the sub-bosses for my proc axes before the patch hits. =] Any clarification you can get on the new end-game would be much appreciated.

Have they considered removing diminishing returns on renown in city siege instances with it now being so rvr based?

Will you be publishing the information gathered on this visit in a non-Twitter Medium?

Yes. All the questions asked via Twitter will be answered in blog posts on our sites for everyone to read. This is about getting the information out and we will do everything we can to get it to the community.

So, check back here and on the other blogs over the next couple days as well as the Official Forums and un-official forums as I’m sure there will be links and information flying around everywhere.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to watch the Tweetastic Q&A as it happens. So I’ll be looking forward to the articles you guys post.

Since the city siege will become an RvR experience … how will this affect the King encounter? Fighting an overly powerful NPC while also fighting opposing players didn’t work so well in the second part of the Stage 1 PQ. That’s why nobody bothers will Adell when he spawns.

With our Live Event item timers running out … what will be the next Live Event? Will it coincide with patch 1.3.5 and the new city sieges?

It was mentioned that soon after the city siege was revamped, we’d hear more about the long overdue armour redesigns. Many players are looking forward to those … could that also open the door for armoursmiting as a crafting career or as a possible new vendor where players could always update/change their look.

So far it is rumored that player bank expansion might be coming. If so, will players be able to buy additional tabs via gold, tokens, or emblems?

If by chance any of the Q&A goes towards the expansion rumors … have them rate on a scale of 1-10 (1 being not likely and 10being likely) the possibility of 1) adding a third realm, 2) adding a new race to each current faction, 3) adding any new classes to the existing races, 4) will there be an increase in the level and/or renown rank cap, 5) will we ever see the missing capitals?

From Dev Q&A sessions I’ve attended they have said repeatedly that the (1) third faction/realm is pretty much never going to happen as it would require a ground-up rebuild of the game. Additional playable races could be added in an expansion as long as they’re Order or Destruction, but a true third faction is pretty much a 1 on the 1 – 10 scale. And based on the 4 archetype model they’ve used I’d say the same thing probably for (3) adding more classes to the existing races. As for (2,4,5), I hope those all happen. =]

    I have a question.

What developers will do in 1.3.5 in order to balance blackguard with its mirror (ironbreaker) ?

Will they do other buffs for “Dark Protector” that already have ironbreaker with its “Oathfriend”?

Will they do another balance changes to blackguard(like armor debuss skill and/or skill with some magic damage )?

    Sorry for my bad english)
