Weekend Warfront: Days of Doom

Following on the heels of a blood-filled (and rather fun-filled) weekend in Black Fire Basin, comes a trip back to Doomfist Crater.

Hrm…and a return to a less straightforward task list it would seem.

Let’s take a look!


The ancient site known as Doomfist Crater is one steeped in myth and lore.  Now Order and Destruction forces converge upon the broken landscape, determined to deny their enemies access to whatever treasures may lay buried beneath the surface.

Days of Doom – Weekend Warfront (March 26th – 29th, 2010)

The Doomfist Crater scenario is open again for characters of all levels!  /taunt your enemies to goad them into battle, capture and hold the Central Platform for your side, Use Doomfist Ore to accelerate your kill count and use Doomfist Powder to knock back your enemies!

  • Basic Reward – Level-appropriate Healing potion

  • Advanced Reward – Level-appropriate Molotov potion

  • Elite Reward – Vanquisher’s Boon – Buff that awards extra Emblems from Scenarios based on the score.

The Live Event Herald for Order is named Kadius Kridt and is located at (26776, 30868) by the Flight Master in Altdorf.  The Live Event Herald for Destruction is named Kralf Hexenkrieger and is located at (29455, 32368) by the Flight Master in the Inevitable City.

General Information

Days of Doom started on March 26th and will last until March 29th.  The task list is the same regardless of Tier/Realm.

There is a bonus to Experience and Renown while in this Scenario, making it the place to be this weekend!

Note: I have pulled some amazing renown gains out of the Weekend Warfront scenarios (ie: well over 10k for multiple scenarios), so it’s definitely worth it to queue for this scenario simply for that 10% bonus.

This has always been a rather intriguing scenario.  Not one of my favorites, but hey, they can’t all be.  🙂

The fight always seems to start with a huge race and brawl over the Central Platform, with lots of possible tactics for taking it successfully at least.  Once it’s claimed, there’s plenty of ways to maneuver to get it back.  The addition of the near-perma-CC items adds a unique twist, both on the offensive and the defensive.  It should be an interesting weekend.

Weekend Event Tasks

  • Capture and hold the Center Platform in Doomfist Crater
  • Elminate enemy players using Doomfist Ore
  • Use Doomfist Munitions to knock back your enemies
  • Disciple of Khaine
  • Sorceror/Sorceress
  • /taunt a member of every enemy career
  • Complete all Days of Doom tasks

Seems to be broken.  The random names listed are  for /taunts and don’t appear in the smaller list.  They also don’t credit you with any influence despite being part of the 6 tasks shown on the list or for the 12 taunts you need as Order.  Good times.

Apparently I wasn’t the only one to notice this little issue.  They pulled the Live Event and fixed it fairly quickly this afternoon.  Kudos Mythic on a quick response time.

Eliminating enemy players with the Ore triggers off killing them while holding it or killing someone that is holding it.  It may also be group-based as I got credit for a kill once but wasn’t anywhere near a fight.  The buff seems to be a 25% damage bonus with the added requirement of killing people before the timer runs out.  Otherwise…boom goes the dynamite.

Knocking people back with the Munitions is all you though and very easy to do.  It doesn’t knock them back a huge distance, but it is a fun little form of CC to mess with people.  There’s barrels of it everywhere and you get 5 charges per barrel.

So, once you get your kills in, you’re gonna be fine.  That seems to be the only real limiter here.  Well, unless you can’t seem to get in a scenario where your side holds the platform.  You have to hold it until the end by the way.  hehe.  But if your Realm can’t pull that off at least once this weekend, you need more help than I can give.  😉

    How can i make a macro to /taunt players?

      Click the Main Menu button or hit the Escape key to bring it up.

      From there, select the Macros option at the bottom of the list.

      This brings up a Macro window. Click one of the squares, give your macro a name, type /taunt in the Text box, then click the “No Icon Set” box and choose an icon. Once done, hit Save.

      Now, drag your Macro icon to your hotbar and close all the windows. Spam as needed.

    Well, I see Mythic actually DIDN’T learn to balance tasks. “Kill 50 players holding the doomfist ore”… after about 6 scenarios, I’m at 1/50. And I don’t think anyone wants to pick it up, just for the reason that they’ll get focused.

    This makes me sad ;_;

      It is a tough one. I’m at 15. Just gotta not spawn camp and let them get to it. Or don’t take the center and get it yourself. hehe

    Yeah … they should’ve swapped it to kill the ore carrier (or kill while holding it) 25 times and punt them with the keg 50 times. I literally lit a guy up and got the killing blow while he had the ore and didn’t even get credit for it. WTF?

    Just had the stupid ore and soloed someone … no credit. Lame.

    I’d rather run the keg in Howling Gorge. If Gaar only has 15 at this point what hope do us peons have?

      Is the killing even working.. I’ve only gotten credit for help killing the carrier if I get dmg on them within the 1st 5% of health.

      I hate this.. I like to complete the event I also want to lvl my engineer using the event for the extra RP/XP. The weekend event tasks should only take few hours to do. Not the whole weekend.

      I’m about halfway done now on the kills. Not sure what the credit rules are, all I know is I’m stalking anyone that goes near the bauble and trying to stay on them til they’re dead.

      What’s really limiting imo is that it’s way too easy to end up in a spawn-camp situation where the other side can’t even get to the bauble. Although, I do enjoy using the Munitions to AOE knock them off their platform. hehe

      The Munitions should be the one thats at 50, the ore shodl be 10-15.

    This is going to be hard to type, as my key between my Y and my I is broken (i.e fell off….. darn yo_ windows!) b_t this was witho_t a do_bt the best weekend even for ranged I have ever seen. The platforms are the appropriate 65 feet away, so the ranged can shoot shoot shoot with no melee interr_ption. I meas_red, _sing the “get on both comp_ters and get on both sides of a scen then hold it still for a min_te while checking the “throw” power range between pillars” method, and it comes o_t to be exactly 65 feet. That means SWs and whatever their destro match is can still be a skirmisher/close range ranged and do damage. I played on my Shadow Warrior, and got 60 kills, NO DEATHS, 4 solos, and j_st abo_t 15k RR in ONE SCEN. This was, hands down,, the best scenario ive ever experienced. Why cant Mythic boot Norden off the scen list and plop this in instead? All Nordenwatch is is a race!!! First to the flag at the fortress wins the fight, caps the flag, and then wins the scenario. Sigh. And also, WHY THE F_CK DID MYTHIC LAY OFF DRACLAS!!!!! Gaar, _se the Oracle powers for good, and make them tell The Forces of Order what happened! We miss MythicDraclas!!
