Weekend Warfront: Howling for Blood

March 12, 2010

It’s that time again kiddies…time for another Weekend Warfront!

This weekend has us battling it out in the Howling Gorge.

Let’s see what’s on the to-do list for this weekend’s mini-event.

~Gaar

The war-scarred landscape of Black Crag rings once again with the sounds of battle as Order and Destruction forces descend upon the Howling Gorge.  Here among the labyrinthine gorges, the struggle for control of Dwarf engineered “boom-powder” ignites a conflagration of violence not seen in years.

Howling for Blood – Weekend Event (March 12th – 15th 2010)

The Howling Gorge scenario is open again for characters of all levels!  Defeat your enemies!  Intercept Black Powder Barrels to seal your victory!  /howl at friends and enemies alike!  Complete all four tasks to gain a unique title and remember to have a good time!

  • Basic Reward – Level-appropriate Healing potion

  • Advanced Reward – Level-appropriate Molotov potion

  • Elite Reward – Vanquisher’s Boon – Buff that awards extra Emblems from Scenarios based on the score.

Note: If you’re in Tiers 1-3, make an effort to complete these weekend events.  The Vanquisher’s Boon is great for speeding up your Emblem gain for those lower-Tier weapons.  It even helps if you’re new to Tier 4.  However, once you start trying to get the weapons that also cost Insignias, this reward is meaningless so don’t bother unless you want the Title.  And the renown of course.  10% more renown is always tasty…unless you’re 80. 😦

The Live Event Herald for Order is named Kadius Kridt and is located at (26776, 30868) by the Flight Master in Altdorf.  The Live Event Herald for Destruction is named Kralf Hexenkrieger and is located at (29455, 32368) by the Flight Master in the Inevitable City.

General Information

Howling for Blood started on March 12th and will last until the morning of March 15th.  The task list is the same regardless of Tier/Realm.

There is a bonus to Experience and Renown while in this Scenario, making it the place to be this weekend!

Note: I pulled some amazing renown gains out of the last Weekend Warfront scenario (ie: well over 10k for multiple scenarios), so it’s definitely worth it to queue for this scenario simply for that 10% bonus.

Like the zone it used to belong to, the Howling Gorge is a collection of twisting and winding pathways that can get one turned around in a heartbeat.  Learn the map and its shortcuts and victory is yours!

Weekend Event Tasks

  • Successfully plant 25 Powder Kegs  (has to be you)
  • Intercept 50 Powder Kegs  (can be just about anyone, or just cross paths with the person)
  • /howl at a player of every career while in the Howling Gorge (howling at yourself counts!)

  • Participate in the Howling Gorge scenario 20 times (Do it for the renown!)
  • Complete all the Howling for Blood tasks

Wow.  So…the good news is they lowered the number of times you have to do the scenario to 20 from 25.  The bad news is:  Who runs the Powder Keg?  I mean, sure, I’ll run it on occasion to speed things up, but this scenario almost always ends up in a spawn-camp for one side or the other.

That being said, let’s give a good effort and try to run the Keg huh?  Make sure you go as a full group so as not to feed them intercept kills.  That’s just a waste of time.  25/50 is a lot though…sheesh.  If someone actually completes this, let me know what the Title is…not sure I’ll make it. 😦

Hidden Bonuses

No one reported any hidden bonuses in last week’s event, so maybe there are none.  Keep your eyes peeled though, you never know…

Good luck!

25 bomb runs is way too much should be 10 or 15 maybe

I’m testing it now. If it was a group thing (not Realm) then I’d be ok with it. It doesn’t seem to be though. Which means there’s zero chance a squishy could do this pugging.

      Right-click on the cart?

Sorry for the late reply. You probably ran to the wrong cart. You need the cart that is by the opp teams spawn point.

I love to complete Live Events and these Weekend Warfronts but jeesh. This one sounds steep. And much of this relies on the scenario popping enough times over the weekend to complete it which was the problem last weekend.

Definitely gonna be tough to run the keg 25 times as a squishy … I’m a BW so … ugh. Why 25 times? Why not 20? That way it boils down to you having to run it once per scenario.

I guess the hope is your team camps the other and then you can freely run the keg a few times. And for those times you get camped fughetaboutit.

    Thanks for posting!
