Want a Free Level? A Guide to the WAR Tract

December 1, 2009

Unless you never look at chat, you’ve heard about the WAR Tract by now.

It’s that wonderful little item that when used grants you one free level…

That’s right.  A whole level.

If you can’t wait to go get yours, read on.  This is a guide for both the Order and Destruction ways to obtain the WAR Tract.

Enjoy!

~Gaar

General Information

For both Realms, this quest is initiated in Chapter 4 of Empire.  For Order, Ch4 lies in Norsca.  For Destruction, Ch4 lies in Nordland.  Open your map and hover over the towns until you find the one you need, then follow the PvE road to it.  Fairly simple.

The quest is unlocked by filling two “bubbles” of influence for Chapter 4.  There are decent Public Quests to do this at for both Desctuction and Order close to each hub.

This quest can be done at any level, but can only be done once.  Since the creatures/NPCs you’ll be killing are around Rank 9, it helps to not be too low-level unless you’re in a group.

Regardless, once you obtain your WAR Tract, put it in the bank until you hit 39.  Trust me.  😉

Order Guide

First off, Empire Chapter 4 is named Gotland Advance and is found at approximately (54725, 57735) in Norsca.

Initially, you can skip right by the Chapter hub and go straight to the Public Quest called “Altar of the Bloodbane”.  It is located at approximately (60000, 50000).  The first stage of this PQ requires you to kill 75 NPCs.  Since two bubbles of influence is only 5,410 influence points, you can finish it all with just 55 kills in Stage 1.  Make sure you restrict your kills to just the “Bloodbane Devoted” to make sure you’re not wasting any time.  🙂

Once done, head back to Chapter 4 and find Captain Kleinke.  He should have a bright blue quest icon over his head.  Makes him easy to recognize.  hehe

As you can see, there are no quests available.  To open them up, go ahead and select your first two influence rewards.  Once done, the window will close and he’ll gain a quest icon over his head and new quest options when you talk to him.

“Mentioned in Dispatches” is the quest you want.  The other one just leads you into Tier 2.

First off, ignore what it tells you to do.  With the recent changes and the new Endless Trial, the Flight Master he’s talking about isn’t there anymore.  Go ahead and head back to the warcamp in Nordland and fly to Altdorf from there.  Once there, check your map.

As you can see, the person you want is in the Palace.  Take a right after you leave the Flight Master area, another right to turn into the Palace entry and then go all the way to the King’s room.

Head on up to the guy on the left and turn your quest in to him.

I don’t know about you, but I say “Hell yeah!”

Once done, pop open your inventory and there it is, in all it’s glory: the WAR Tract.

Again, unless you’re level 39, go ahead and store this in your bank.  Using it at any other point is just a huge waste.

Destruction Guide

First off, Destruction Chapter 4 is named Authun’s Host and is found at approximately (57000, 20000) in Nordland.

Initially, you can skip right by the Chapter hub and go straight to the Public Quest called “Fields of Woe”.  It is located at approximately (55000, 26000).  The first stage of this PQ requires you to destroy 10 wagons.  Each wagon has two guards and you get influence for all three things you kill.  Since two bubbles of influence is 5,410 influence points, you won’t be able to finish this all here.  Do as much as you can and then hop over the hill to the PQ called “Sacred Ground”.  This PQ requires you to kill 30 wolves in the first stage.  You should be able to easily get your influence between these two PQs.

Once done, head back to Chapter 4 and find Authun Skandsen.

“Your Star is Rising” is the quest you want.  The other one just leads you into Tier 2.

Go ahead and head back to the warcamp to fly to the Inevitable City.  Once there, check your map.

As you can see, the person you want is in the Palace.  Take a left after you leave the Flight Master area, another left to head over the bridge and then go all the way to the King’s room.

Head on up to the guy on the right and turn your quest in to him.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to know what happens if I disappoint them…

Once done, pop open your inventory and there it is, in all it’s glory: the WAR Tract.

Again, unless you’re level 39, go ahead and store this in your bank.  Using it at any other point is just a huge waste.

I think Mythic may have removed this… can’t get it with my SM. I double checked to make sure I had full influence, was at the right place, etc but no quest offering. Makes me sad.

I know of people that did it just a day or two ago. Are you sure you didn’t do it on that character already or maybe used the Writ one instead?

I know this reply is late, but you won’t see the quest untill you select your influence rewards. This still works 🙂

As Kasmein said, it is likely because you havn’t selected the influence rewards. It still works as of 20/09/10.

And thanks for the guide. ’tis awesome

Hate to be a necromancer for this thread, but I think that there is an argument for using it at level 35 to uncouple your rp with the tier changes meaning tier 3 lasts through to 39.

    • January 18, 2011 1:25 pm

It depends on what your goal is: hit 40 and play the end-game as fast as possible or have the highest RR possible when you get there. However, this guide was made before the changes to Tier structuring, hence it doesn’t address that.
