Keg End 2010

December 14, 2010

Today marks the triumphant return of BioWare-Mythic’s annual year-end event: Keg End.

Giants…Fireworks…Beer…Good times.

Happy Holidays!

~Gaar

The wheel of the seasons has turned, ushering out the sun’s last warmth with bitter blasts of northern winds. As snow creeps down to block mountain passes and lock the Warhammer world in the icy talons of winter, the citizens of the Old World raise their mugs high; the time of Keg End is at hand. In an epic celebration fraught with boasting, toasting, and epic fireworks, the Dwarfs clear out their stores of ales, beers and other intoxicating beverages in order to bring luck in the New Year and make way for a stock of better, stronger brews.

Keg End (Live Event – December 2010)

Each year, the Dwarf empty their stores of ales and beers, in a celebration known as Keg End – to bring luck in the new year and make room for stronger, better brews.  Meanwhile, the forces of Destruction scramble to ruin the celebration, by guzzling all the Dwarf brews first!

  • Basic Reward – Bugman’s Black Label – Exclusive Title – Brew Hound (Order), Broo Dawg (Destruction)

  • Advanced Reward – Party Keg – Deploys a keg that allies can interact with to increase morale gain.

  • Elite – Keg Tap – Event Slot item with career-specific stats

The Live Event Herald for Order is named Kadius Kridt and is located at (26818, 30784) by the Flight Master in Altdorf.  The Live Event Herald for Destruction is named Kralf Hexenkrieger and is located at (29500, 32368) by the Flight Master in the Inevitable City.

General Information

The Keg End Live Event started on December 14th and will last until the morning of January 4th.  As usual, there are Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 versions of what needs to be done and where things are located.  Use the red circles on your map as guides and if that fails, ask in region or check this guide for location coordinates.

Kill Giant : Slay one of the Giant bosses who guard Keg Caches scattered around the world.

The Hero Giants can be found in the RvR lakes.  You can’t miss them if they’re out.  They’re quite large…

I soloed one as a tank, so a couple people should do fine as long as one is tanky.  hehe.  The one I killed dropped Fireworks and Explosive Stout.

It’s also been confirmed that the purple drops come off them as well.

Giant spawn location rules – With the help of Patriotic and crew on Iron Rock last year, it was determined that only 1 Giant spawns per PAIRING at any given time (ie: 1 in Elf, 1 in Dwarf, 1 in Empire).  It can spawn in any of the zones in that pairing and there are 2 locations per zone.  Once you kill it, it will respawn in 5 minutes at one of the other spawn points in the PAIRING.

Best advice: Split up into small groups on each of the respawn points and farm, farm, farm!

See below for screenshots of the phat lewtz from them.  :)

Giant Location Info for Tier 4: Still working on Empire and Dwarf as I never got locations for them last year.

The Giant in Dwarf is Norbulg the Mighty.  He can be found at the following locations:

Kadrin Valley: ??? + ???
Thunder Mountain: 31k, 50k + 33k, 15k
Black Crag: 24k, 48k + ???

The Giant in Empire is Bofgor Thunder-head.  He can be found at the following locations:

Chaos Wastes: 32k, 40k + ???
Praag: 30k, 47k + ???

  • Impressive Fireworks – 5
  • Magnificent Fireworks – 1

Boast an enemy of each career : Use the /boast emote while targeting players of enemey careers.

  • Chosen
  • Marauder
  • Zealot
  • Magus
  • Blackguard
  • Witch Elf
  • Disciple of Khaine
  • Sorcerer/Sorceress

/Boast slain players : Use the /boast emote while targeting slain enemy players.

Drink Dwarf Beer : Capture and drink Dwarf Beer from Keg Caches.

The Keg Caches can be found along the PvE roads.  There’s anywhere from 4-8 kegs laying around.  Smack one with your weapon and it breaks up into a bunch of beer steins.  Drink them down and you’re good to go!

Kill greenskin players : Slay greenskin players in open RvR and scenarios.

Kill Dark Elf players : Slay Dark Elf players in open RvR and scenarios.

Kill Chaos players : Slay Chaos players in open RvR and scenarios.

Drink from Party Kegs : Find a player who has earned the Keg End Advanced Reward, and interact with his or her Mini Keg, Pony Keg or King Keg after it’s placed on the ground.  You may also drink from your own keg to step this task.

The Mini-Keg gives a mini-buff…100% morale gain for 10 seconds.

The Pony Keg gives a better buff…250% morale gain for 10 seconds.

The King Keg is HUGE!  It gives a 400% morale gain buff for 10 seconds.

Be warned:  Drinking from the keg gets you a bit hung over…hehe

Drink from kegs found in the pubs of Altdorf : Interact with kegs in the pubs and taverns of Altdorf.

  • Hair of the Dog – Partake of the Mastiff’s End Keg
  • Humpback Ale – Partake of the Blowhole Tavern’s Keg
  • The Cat’s Meow – Smile and swallow the Screaming Cat’s special brew.

Complete all Keg End tasks : Pretty self-explanatory.  Good luck!

Order Quests

Borgrim Mugslammer can be found at roughly (25900, 35000) in Altdorf by the mailbox.  He hands out the Pub Crawlers and Dead Soldiers quests for Order players.

Pub Crawlers - The first quest (and the most important!) is one that sends you to each of the taverns, pubs and speakeasies of Altdorf to sample their fine beverages.  Once done, return to Borgrim for your reward.

  • Hair of the Dog – The Mastiff’s End in Market Square (25607, 35795)
  • Humpback Ale – Blowhole Tavern, North Docks (30242, 28487)
  • The Cat’s Meow – Screaming Cat, South Docks (36297, 40305)
  • Reikland Gold Standard – Reikland Arms across from the Bank (19134, 38008)
  • Golden Griffon Grog – The Golden Griffon Inn at Emperor’s Circle (26818, 42936)

  • Squire’s Secret Still – Behind Sigmar’s Hammer (17088, 49492)
  • Fatal Firebreath Fuel – In the house across from the Bright Wizard College (32330, 32956)

Once you turn it in, it’s time to get your very own Beer Caddy!

Dead Soldiers

Part 1 – For this quest, Borgrim sends you out to kill, kill, kill!  Killing enemies gets you his empty Broo bottles.  Once you have them all, head to a Dwarf warcamp and talk to the Bugman’s Brewman there to turn in this part.

Part 2 – Bugman’s Kegs have been highjacked in Black Fire Pass.  Head in to the Black Fire Basin Scenario, get 10 kegs and take them to Borgrim in Altdorf.

This part is tough because there are only a limited number of Kegs in each Scenario and they don’t respawn.  :/

Reward : Bottomless Stein Trophy

This trophy is the same as the old one, which means I’m now wearing two for those days where I need to double-fist it…  ;)

Destruction Live Event Tasks

Seek out Gaggmagit Slopreek in the Inevitable City for vital quests.  Defeat the Giants guarding the keg caches on the battlefield.  And always keep an eye out for the Golden Stein, for its power can turn the tide of war!

Drink from cauldrons found in the feast halls of the Inevitable City : Interact with cauldrons in the feast halls of the Inevitable City.

  • Feast Hall Hooch – Drink deep from the Feast Hall’s special brew.
  • Choke & Boil Brew – Drink deep of the Char & Bone’s signature beverage.
  • Boneyard Brew – Force down a pint of The Grinning Skull’s dubious concoction.

Complete all Keg End tasks : Pretty self-explanatory.  Good luck!

Destruction Quests

Gaggmagit Slopreek can be found at roughly (29000, 36000) in the Inevitable City.  He hands out the Pub Crawlers and Dead Soldiers quests for Destruction players.

Pub Crawlers - The first quest (and the most important!) is one that sends you to each of the taverns, pubs and speakeasies of the Inevitable City to sample their fine alcoholic concoctions.  Once done, return to Gaggmagit for your reward.

  • Feast Hall Hooch – The Feast Hall (34302, 43737)
  • Choke & Boil Brew – The Char & Bone, Northwest corner of the Apex (28265, 35144)
  • Boneyard Brew – The Grinning Skull, Southwest corner of the Monolith (20202, 39110)
  • Monolith Malt – Use West exit off Apex and go in the door right across from it (25181, 37436)
  • Dread Wine – Down Dread Way (23550, 44882)
  • Lovers’ Liqueur – Far West of the Undercroft (22449, 53122)
  • Slaughterstout – Far East of the Undercroft, underneath the main area (36770, 53122)
  • Fleshrot Rotgut – Fleshrot Alley, far East of IC (50077, 35541)  If you’re low-level, I suggest using the North path through the Sacellum bleachers to avoid the aggressive NPCs

Once you turn it in, it’s time to get your very own Broo Lugga!

Dead Soldiers

Part 1 – For this quest, Gagmaggit sends you out to kill, kill, kill!  Killing enemies gets you his empty Broo bottles.  Once you have them all, head to a Greenskin warcamp and talk to one of Gagmaggit’s Boys there to turn in this part.

Part 2 – To complete this part, you’ll need to head into the Blackfire Basin Scenario and scrounge up 10 of Bugman’s Kegs.  These are found to the left and right of the map on the ground.  They have a use-timer and there’s only 10 in the whole Scenario, so you may have to do it a few times to get them all.  Once done, return to Gagmaggit in the Inevitable City for your reward.

Reward:  Bottomless Stein Trophy

Rare World Drops

Did you think I’d end the guide without talking about phat lewtz?  hehe

With the return of Keg End comes the return of everyone’s favorite loot:  The Battlebrew Backpack.

This tasty little item looks great on dwarfs, but even if you don’t want to wear it, you’ll want one in your inventory for it’s special ability.  It basically gives you a ranged DoT on a 3 minute reuse timer.  Gotta love it.  They drop quite frequently off players in Open RvR and Scenarios.

Returning from last year is the Dwarf Keg Handler for Order and the Goblin Bar-Back for Destruction.  They drop off the Giants you find in the RvR lakes.  (See the Giant descriptions above for spawn information.)

These little helpers will tote your keg around for you while you go about your business.  What a great idea!

Last, but not least, there are purple Live Event Slot Items that drop off the Giants as well.  (See the Giant descriptions above for spawn information.)  Here are some samples:

Good luck finding everything and, as always…

Have fun!

This seems like a rehash of what you posted last year. even the seemingly spontanious remarks like that you almost ran out of stout…

Is there really nothing new to be posted?

Also it looks like a part of the story is in there double. you might want to recheck what you copy-pasted

    • December 15, 2010 3:24 pm

Of course it’s a rehash. Most of the annual guides are unless something changes. I re-verified all the information I could and updated some spots to add more information. I’ll continue to update it as I can during the event as well, hopefully with the locations of all the Giants in Tier 4.

As for it being in there twice…it’s in there for Order and Destruction…or did you not realize the event is slightly different for each side?

I got a new title unlock upon completing it as a destruction player.
I did complete it last year as well, so I was surprised to get a new title.

Any confirmation on whether the keg handler pets or the event slot items also drop from giants in T1-T3, or is it only the T4 giants? Also, am I correct in reading that the event items that drop from the giants do not have any decay time?

    • December 16, 2010 4:20 pm

I’m unsure about whether they drop in the lower Tiers or not. However, the Event Slot items all have decay timers, I just cropped them out of the photos.

I searched some giant spots with my guild mates today.

    In addition to the above:
    Kadrin 27,40
    Praag 24,35
    Reikland 38,3 + 27,50

The event slot items have a decay timer of 14 days, most of them
got a +3% reduced armor penetration.

They also seem to drop the barrel pets (no idea wether they have a decay timer or not)

Yeah, I’m looking for the barrel pet permanent :p I couldn’t get it last year. Nice numbers of unlocks Zoozie ^^
