First Look: Doomflayer and Warpforged Armor Sets
With testing underway for the 1.4.0 Patch and the new Skaven-themed RvR Dungeon, it was only a matter of time until we got to take a peek at the new Armor Sets.
As most should already know, they are the Doomflayer (RR 90) and Warpforged (RR 100) sets.
The set bonuses for these upcoming shinies are currently still in development (find them here: RDPS, MDPS, Tank, Healer) and not yet set-in-stone, however this should give everyone a good idea of what to expect as I doubt we’ll see them change too much from what they look like right now.

These sets are found on the standard token-based armor vendors in your Capital City, however they are purchased with new tokens. These new tokens are:
- Captain’s Medallions
- Doomflayer Crests
- Warpforged Crests
One can only assume they’re earned in the new Dungeon or by killing Skaven-players in RvR. If we find out during the test tonight, I’ll update this section to include how to earn them.

Good god, those sets are insanely powerful. I understand that it’s going to be quite an achievement to get RR enough to wear them, but how on Earth are sub RR55 players going to even have a shot?

the “Doomflayer – Doomed” melee healer set has the healing stats of “Doomflayer – Doomflayer’s” set
“Doomflayer – Doomflayer’s” and “Warpforged – Warpforged” healing version (melee healers) are missing “4 Righteous Fury/Soul Essence per second”

The power of those dps sets sends a shiver down my spine! However, those who actually manage to get to rr100 SHOULD have an uber set of armor as, lets face it, it will be hard work and there should be a reward. But we are not going to see a lot of people actually reach rr100, and any that do won’t do it for quite some time. By the time people can start wearing these sets, everybody else – even those who start today – will be at rr80, so the gap will be less. On top of that, the new RA abilities will take a lot of the sting out of the tail.
I played RF Online for a while, and in that you had race leaders (effectively rr100) who could 1-shot people and needed about a wb of people to take down. There were only a limited amount, probably the same as will ever get to rr100, and it was not a problem at all. In fact, it was more fun.

There will always be new players and there will always be players creating alts. Mythic has the choice of either greatly speeding up the Ranking process (which will annoy a great many folks, myself included), or finding some way to keep a RR90 premade from curb stomping the opposition in scenarios.
I’m fine with the extra power in oRvR. If an enemy force is too strong for you, you can find somewhere else to go. But in scenarios? That’s just going to suck.
Very nice, always fun with new stuff. But It’s far from balanced.. Have u guys seen the new RR100 weps? Fucking brutal.
